Government of Montserrat selects Southern Caribbean Fiber to reconnect the island with submarine cable infrastructure
In July 2019, Government of Montserrat awarded the tender for the Installation, Operation and
Maintenance of the
Montserrat Submarine Fibre Optic Cable Project to Southern Caribbean Fiber. SCF proposed the most
cost effective and
timely implementation method for government of Montserrat which consisted in the insertion of a
Branching Unit (BU) to
connect Montserrat both to Guadeloupe and to Antigua. Despite COVID conditions and constraints, SCF
demonstrated its
expertise and professionalism. The project was delivered on time and the system has been operational
since September
2020, thus allowing the government of Montserrat to pursue its policy of generalizing fiber optic
connection for
businesses and residents of the island.
